Have you noticed any dry, flaky skin after washing and moisturizing your face recently? If so, chances are you've skipped a critical cleansing step: exfoliation! Rather than applying more moisturizer read on to discover why, when and how to exfoliate.

Why Exfoliate?

Exfoliation is an essential step in your daily cleansing routine for three reasons. First, it cleanses your skin much deeper than your cleanser, scrubbing away all the built-up grime in your pores while also breaking up white heads. Second, it smooth's and refines your skin's texture, giving it a softer more supple appearance. Lastly, it encourages blood flow to your face, giving it a beautiful, fresh glow.

When and How to Exfoliate.

Twice a week after cleansing your skin use an exfoliant to gently slough away dead skin in upward, circular motions. Remember, a little goes a long way! Let your exfoliant's particles do the work, be gentle when exfoliating. If you notice any redness or irritation afterwards, only exfoliate once a week. Last but not least, rinse your exfoliant off and moisturize. This is essential to lock in moisture, leaving your skin looking significantly smoother, bright and fresh!
