HOW THEY DO IT IN BRAZIL:
Pia Trujillo isn't sure why more salons around here don't tout the Brazilian wax treatment.

"I am from Colombia," she said. "Maybe I am more open about it."

She should be. She recently opened a beauty salon that offers the Brazilian wax, a hair removal process that goes well beyond the bikini line.

Pia Day Spa opened in late April at 3312 W Bay to Bay Blvd., between Concordia and Ferdinand avenues in Palma Ceia. The 605-square-foot shop also offers permanent makeup, full body waxing, massages, body scrubs and facials. Trujillo plans to add a nail technician for manicures and pedicures later this month. A grand opening event with free face treatments, massages, paraffin hand rubs and cocktails is planned for July 8.

Still stuck on the Brazilian wax thing? Well, it's not just popular in Brazil.

"In Miami, Brazilian waxes are all over," said Trujillo, a native of Cali, Colombia. "You also see them a lot in New York, L.A. - all the big cities.

Pia Day Spa is open 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Call 831-2418 or go to www.bypia.com
