What Lotion or Oil Is Used During Your Massage?
At Pia Esthetics Day Spa, we use professional-grade massage lotions and oils selected for their skin-nourishing properties and smooth glide. Our default products are hypoallergenic, lightly scented, and designed to absorb well without leaving a heavy, greasy residue on your skin.
In Depth
The choice between oil and lotion depends on the type of massage and your personal preferences:
- Massage oil: Provides a longer-lasting glide, ideal for Swedish and relaxation massages where long, flowing strokes are the primary technique. Oils like sweet almond, jojoba, and grapeseed are popular choices because they are lightweight, nourishing, and rarely cause reactions.
- Massage lotion: Absorbs faster and provides more friction, which is better for deep tissue work where the therapist needs grip to access deeper muscle layers. Lotion leaves less residue on the skin.
- Massage cream: A middle ground between oil and lotion, offering moderate glide and absorption. Often used for specific techniques or when working on a targeted area for an extended time.
Important: let us know about allergies or sensitivities. If you have nut allergies, we will avoid nut-based oils. If you have sensitive skin or fragrance sensitivities, we have unscented options available. If you prefer a specific product or want to bring your own, that is also welcome.
Some aromatherapy add-ons are available, such as essential oils like lavender for relaxation or eucalyptus for tension relief. These can be mixed into your massage product upon request.
After your massage, some oil or lotion may remain on your skin. We provide warm towels for wiping down, but wearing casual or dark clothing to your appointment is a good idea if you are concerned about transfer. Visit us in South Tampa for a personalized, comfortable massage experience.
