How to Prepare for Your Lash Lift Appointment
Arrive with clean, completely makeup-free lashes. This is the single most important preparation step — any mascara, eyeliner, or oil residue on your lashes will prevent the lifting solution from bonding properly, resulting in an uneven or weak curl that will not last.
In Depth
Preparing for your lash lift is simple, but following these steps will make a noticeable difference in your results:
3 to 5 days before:
- Stop using waterproof mascara. Waterproof formulas leave a waxy residue on lashes that is difficult to remove completely, even with makeup remover. This residue creates a barrier that prevents the lifting solution from penetrating the hair.
- Avoid oil-based eye products (eye creams, makeup removers, serums with oils). Oil coats the lash and repels the water-based lifting solution.
Day of your appointment:
- Come with bare, clean lashes — no mascara, no eyeliner, no eye shadow
- If you need to remove eye makeup before your appointment, use a gentle, oil-free micellar water
- Remove contact lenses if they are uncomfortable when your eyes are closed for extended periods (the treatment takes 45 to 60 minutes with your eyes closed)
- Avoid caffeine if you tend to get eye twitches — involuntary twitching can make application more difficult
What to tell your technician: Let them know if you have any eye sensitivities, recent eye surgeries, are using lash growth serums (like Latisse), or have had a reaction to a lash treatment before. This helps us customize the solution strength and processing time for the safest, best result.
At Pia Esthetics Day Spa in South Tampa, our lash specialists will confirm everything is set before starting your treatment.
