What Is Double Exfoliation?

Dermaplaning and microdermabrasion both exfoliate the skin, but they work at different depths and address different types of buildup. Together they do something neither can accomplish on its own.

Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and all the fine peach fuzz from the surface of your face. It is painless and precise. The moment the blade finishes, your skin is noticeably smoother, the peach fuzz that catches light and makes makeup sit unevenly is gone, and the surface barrier that prevents serums and products from absorbing is cleared away.

Microdermabrasion follows. A diamond-tip tool with controlled suction resurfaces the skin at a deeper level, removing a second layer of cellular buildup that the blade does not reach. It stimulates lymphatic flow, encourages circulation, and supports collagen production. The suction and resurfacing work together to refine the texture and brighten the tone in a way that topical products simply cannot replicate.

Good to Know: After Your Treatment

Your skin has been exfoliated from two directions. Keep it protected and simple.

Apply SPF before going outside and reapply throughout the day. After dermaplaning and microdermabrasion together, your skin is more vulnerable to UV than usual, and Tampa sun is strong enough to affect results if the skin is not protected.

Skip harsh exfoliants, Retinol, AHAs, and BHAs for at least 48 hours. Your skin does not need more exfoliation right now and active acids on freshly resurfaced skin can cause irritation.

Avoid steam rooms and heavy sweating for 24 hours. Use a gentle cleanser and a light moisturizer. Skip heavy makeup for at least 24 hours if you can.
