Nothing is rushed and nothing is pushed. If she gets partway through and decides she is not ready, that is a completely acceptable outcome and nobody will make her feel bad about it. We would rather she leave with a good association and come back in a year than get through it once and never want to do it again.

Questions Parents Ask Us

What areas do you wax for tweens?

Most commonly upper lip, eyebrows, underarms, and legs. If you are considering something else, call and talk it through with us first. We will give you a straight answer about whether it makes sense for her age.

Will it hurt her?

She will feel it. We are not going to tell you otherwise. But speed is what reduces discomfort, and our estheticians work quickly because they have been doing this for years. Most girls find the anticipation worse than the appointment. Talking her through it beforehand does more good than any promise we can make on a webpage.

Should I stay in the room?

That is entirely your call, and either choice is fine with us. Most parents stay for a first appointment. Many stop coming in after she has done it once or twice and would rather handle it herself, which is usually a good sign.

Is waxing safe for young skin?

Yes, with the right products and technique. Young skin is thinner and more reactive, so we use gentler formulas and adjust our approach. Tell us about any sensitivity, eczema, or medication she is on when you book, since a few acne medications make waxing a bad idea temporarily.

How do I know if she actually wants this?

Ask her when there is nothing else going on, and listen for whether the idea came from her or from a comment somebody made. Both are real reasons. But a girl who wants this for herself has a much easier first appointment than one who was signed up for it, and you will be able to tell the difference in her answer.

How often will she need to come back?

Usually every four to six weeks, though it varies with how fast her hair grows. Regrowth comes in finer over time, so appointments tend to get easier as they go.
