Underarms Wax
Ten minutes. Smooth underarms. Done for the next three to four weeks.
The Underarm Wax at Pia Esthetics Day Spa in South Tampa is one of the most practical services on the menu. It removes underarm hair cleanly and from the root, giving you results that shaving simply cannot match. No razor bumps, no stubble the next day, no irritation from daily upkeep.
If you shave your underarms regularly and have ever dealt with ingrown hairs, dark stubble, or the constant cycle of shaving every day or two, waxing is the better solution.
Why Waxing Beats Shaving for Underarms
Shaving cuts the hair at the surface and leaves a blunt tip that shows as dark stubble within 24 to 48 hours, sometimes less. It also irritates the skin in an area that tends to stay warm and covered, which is exactly the combination that leads to razor bumps and ingrown hairs.
Waxing removes the hair from the root. The hair takes significantly longer to grow back and comes in with a tapered, finer tip rather than the blunt edge shaving leaves. Over time, with regular waxing, most clients notice the hair becomes softer and more sparse, making each appointment easier than the last.
The underarm area is also one of the most common areas for post-shaving pigmentation. The repeated friction and irritation from razors can darken the skin over time. Waxing is significantly gentler on the skin and reduces that ongoing irritation.
What to Expect
Your appointment runs about ten minutes. Your esthetician cleanses the underarm area, applies warm wax, and removes the hair efficiently. The underarms can be more sensitive than other body areas, but the process is fast and most clients describe the discomfort as brief and very manageable.
Some mild redness is normal and typically fades within an hour or two. Most clients go directly back to their day after the appointment.
Let your underarm hair grow to at least a quarter inch before coming in, roughly two weeks after your last shave. That length is the minimum the wax needs to grip the hair for a clean removal. If you shaved recently and are not quite there, wait a few more days.
Who Is This For?
The Underarm Wax works for both men and women. It is a strong fit if you:
- Are tired of shaving every day or two and want a longer-lasting result
- Deal with razor bumps, ingrown hairs, or irritation from regular shaving in the underarm area
- Have noticed darkening or pigmentation in the underarm skin from shaving over time
- Want smooth underarms before a vacation, a sleeveless event, or any occasion where you want to feel confident
- Want a fast, efficient service that you can add to any appointment at the spa
Good to Know: After Your Underarm Wax
The underarm area is freshly waxed and more sensitive than usual for the next 24 to 48 hours.
Avoid deodorant or antiperspirant for at least 24 hours after your appointment. The skin is more reactive right after waxing, and products applied too soon can cause irritation or breakouts. When you do use deodorant again, opt for something gentle and fragrance-free for the first day or two.
Skip tight or synthetic fabrics against the underarm area for the rest of the day. Breathable cotton is gentler on freshly waxed skin.
Avoid exercise that causes significant sweating for 24 hours. Heat and moisture on freshly waxed skin can lead to irritation or ingrown hairs.
Add It to Any Visit
The Underarm Wax is one of the easiest services to add to any appointment. Many clients combine it with a bikini wax, a leg wax, or arm waxing to take care of multiple areas in one visit. Let your esthetician know at booking and they will fit it in.
