What Is a Lash Lift?

A lash lift is a chemical treatment applied to your natural lashes while they are shaped around a small curved silicone pad. The solution restructures the internal bonds of each lash, setting them in an upward curl that stays lifted without any product holding them there.

The result is lashes that appear significantly longer because they are no longer lying flat or pointing outward. Instead, they fan upward and forward, catching light in a way that makes your eyes look more open and awake. The effect is similar to using a lash curler, except the curl holds for weeks rather than hours.

The lift is completely safe for natural lashes when done professionally. It works with the structure of the hair rather than adding anything to it or attaching anything foreign to it.

What Does the Tint Add?

The tint follows the lift. Once your lashes are shaped and set, a semi-permanent dye is applied from root to tip, deepening the color and making the curl even more visible.

For clients with light or blonde lashes, the tint is the step that makes the lift actually show up. A lifted pale lash is still hard to see. A lifted dark lash is immediately noticeable. The combination is what creates the mascara-like result without the mascara.

What to Expect

Your appointment runs about 50 minutes. You will be lying down with your eyes closed for almost the entire session.

Your esthetician cleanses the lashes, places protective pads on the lower lids, and positions the silicone pad on the upper lid. The lifting solution is applied and left to process for several minutes. A neutralizing solution follows to set the curl. Then the tint is applied and removed. The entire sequence is comfortable and most clients find it deeply relaxing.

After the service, your lashes will be visibly lifted and darker. Most clients open their eyes, look in the mirror, and immediately ask when they can come back.

Good to Know: After Your Treatment

Avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 24 hours after the treatment. The curl and tint are still setting during this window and moisture will disrupt the result.

Skip waterproof mascara and oil-based eye products. These are harder to remove and require more friction around the lash line, which shortens the lift and tint lifespan.

Do not use a lash curler after a lift. The lashes are already curled and a mechanical curler can weaken or break the lifted lash.

Sleep on your back if you can for the first night. Pressing your lashes against a pillow before the set is fully complete can affect the curl.

How Often Should You Come In?

Most clients schedule a new lift and tint every six to eight weeks, which aligns with the natural lash growth cycle. A standalone tint appointment in between keeps the color fresh without needing a full lift every time.
